Once upon a time, a group of Muslim writers came together in 2009 to set up the Manchester Muslim Writers. Many years later, after many adventures and forays into the unknown, they decided to set up a dedicated group for fledgling writers to instil a love for the written word.
A Date for your Diaries
Our first sessions of the Young Manchester Muslim Writers will take place on Friday 27 October 2017 at Chorlton Library (Community Room). We shall gear the first sessions for primary school children (all children must be accompanied) and we shall have two sessions:
- 6:30pm – 7:30pm
- 7:30pm – 8:30pm
Update: 20 October 2018
We are delighted to announce that the Young Manchester Muslim Writers has been replaced by Young Shakespeares.
There was a lot of soul searching involved. Following discussions with friends and writers we felt that we could engage a wider audience from all walks of life by using a name that would unite everyone under a single banner. Shakespeare dominates the English cannon of literature. Young Shakespeares regularly runs English workshops for children in Greater Manchester and you can find out more by visiting the website.
